Chileno Bay Maternity Photos in Los Cabos

Some beaches in Los Cabos are all drama: big Pacific surf, sharp cliffs, wind in your face. Chileno Bay is the opposite. It is one of the few calm, swimmable coves on the corridor, with water so clear you can see your feet, and light that stays soft even in the middle of the day. That makes it one of the best places in Cabo for maternity photos.

I have photographed expecting couples here more than once, and the same thing happens every time: the water, the gentle light and the quiet turn a session that could feel posed into something that feels like a morning you actually want to remember.

Why Chileno Bay works so well for a maternity session

Chileno sits inside a protected cove, so the water is calm and the sand is soft, with none of the crashing waves that make the Pacific side tricky to shoot. The resort side has terraces, palms and long pathways that give you several completely different looks without driving anywhere. You can go from a hanging swing overlooking the water to a rocky point and back to the sand in a single session, and the photos will not feel like the same place twice.

When to shoot

Golden hour, the last hour before sunset, is the obvious one, and it is beautiful here because the cove catches the warm light without the wind you get on the open Pacific. The second window I love is early morning, right after sunrise, when the beach is nearly empty and the water is glass. If you want the calm, swimmable water in your photos, both windows deliver it.

What to wear

Flowing fabric is your friend. A fitted dress in white, cream or a soft earth tone shows the shape of the bump, and a long sheer overlay adds movement when the breeze picks up. Barefoot works beautifully on this beach. If your partner is joining, keep the palette simple and coordinated rather than matching, and skip busy prints that fight the turquoise water.

Bring a second look if you want variety: something soft and romantic for the water, something a little cleaner for the paths and terraces. We can change in the car or a nearby restroom between setups.

How far along should you be?

Most women feel best between 28 and 34 weeks, when the bump is clear and they still feel comfortable moving around. If you are on a babymoon later than that, we can absolutely still do it, we will just keep things gentle and close to the water. Tell me how far along you are when you book and I will plan the session around your energy.

"The calm water at Chileno does half the work. My job is to keep the rest simple so you can just be present."
