Lindsey and Jared married at Pueblo Bonito Pacífica, the adults-only, all-inclusive resort on the Pacific side of Cabo San Lucas, inside the Quivira development. About fifty guests made the trip. They went all white, the two of them and the flowers, which is a bold idea on a coast this bright. It works when the rest of the scene stays quiet.
Their guests knew exactly where they were going before the ceremony started. A wooden sign with their names stood at the entrance to the beach, and it shows up in every photo of the walk down.
The ceremony on the sand
They said their vows under a floral arch, built in white and cream, with the water directly behind them. That is the advantage of marrying on the sand: the backdrop is already finished. The Pueblo Bonito Weddings team coordinated the day, and Emporio Arte Floral built the arch and the arrangements.
The details
Before the ceremony there is a quiet stretch that most guests never see. That is when I photograph the rings, the flowers and the table. This couple had a signature cocktail menu illustrated with their two dogs, and it ended up in the gallery.
The portraits at sunset
The beach is a few steps from the ceremony, which is part of why the day flowed. We walked back onto the sand as the light dropped, and the last hour gave us the pictures I like most: the two of them alone with the water behind them.
The reception, and the fire
The reception was on The Fountain Deck, under string lights. Lunas de Fuego closed the night with their fire show, DJ Jonathan played the reception, and Avantec handled the light and sound. The couple left through a tunnel of sparklers.
Marrying at Pueblo Bonito Pacífica
If you are planning a wedding here, the two things that matter most are the hour of the ceremony and the order of the day. If you put the vows about ninety minutes before sunset, the light takes care of itself. Keep the group photos moving and you will still get time on the sand with just the two of you.
Frequently asked questions
Where is Pueblo Bonito Pacífica?
Pueblo Bonito Pacífica is an adults-only, all-inclusive resort on the Pacific side of Cabo San Lucas, inside the Quivira development, a short drive from the marina and downtown. Its beach and outdoor terraces sit close together, so a wedding can move between them without losing time to travel.
What does a wedding at Pueblo Bonito Pacífica look like?
Couples usually exchange vows on the beach or on one of the resort's outdoor spaces, like The Fountain Deck, then use the sand and the grounds for the formal photos as the light warms. The reception moves inside or to a terrace once the sun goes down.
What time should a Cabo wedding ceremony start?
About ninety minutes before sunset. That gives even light for the vows, warm light for the couple portraits, and blue hour for the first dances. In summer everything shifts later, because a mid-afternoon ceremony means heat and hard shadows.
Can you photograph a wedding with a large guest count?
Yes. For big guest counts I bring a second photographer so the getting-ready rooms and the ceremony are covered at the same time.
